Mechanism Study of Hydrocarbon Differential Distribution Controlled by the Activity of Growing Faults in Faulted Basins: Case Study of Paleogene in the Wang Guantun Area, Bohai Bay Basin, China

Abstract Mechanisms that lead to different quantities of hydrocarbon accumulation in complex fault blocks are a major subject impacts further development plans oil and gas fields. To better understand such mechanisms, activity has been interpreted along with existing electron micrographs from the zone, petrophysical data, occurrence seismic pump. This enabled us investigate controlling mechanisms growth faults other associated main Wang Guantun area could have impacted distribution. The results showed Kongdong is periodic intermittent, which produced strong pumping action. Furthermore, series secondary were generated adjacent strata due activity, led formation pump source. A combination these two incidents believed influence differential distribution hydrocarbons area, fault-associated reservoirs.
